This pretty little didgeridoo is made from Broadleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) that has been heavily spalted throughout its post living stay in the Hood Canal. It has the most unusual colors and patterns that I have ever seen on this type of wood. The chamber is unique in that part way down it splits and then rejoins, a characteristic that might be observed in a termite-hollowed traditional didgeridoo from Australia. The upper frequencies have an unusually bright quality, almost crystalline in nature, and overall this instrument plays beautifully and responsively. It is one of my favorite pieces at the moment.
